FairPoint - Wilmington (Complete)

The Vermont Telecommunications Authority(VTA) has awarded $104,000 to FairPoint Communications to expand its DSL broadband Internet service to locations currently without access to any broadband Internet service in Wilmington.

The VTA made the award as part of the February 1, 2013, Notice of Grant Funding for incentives to broadband providers for more difficult to reach locations. Funding was made possible by an appropriation of the Legislature in the FY2012-2013 Capital Budget. It was requested by Governor Peter Shumlin as part of the Connect VT initiative.

Where Will Expansion Take Place?

In Wilmington, new service will be established to all or a portion of the addresses on:

  • Boyd Hill Road, Old Mill Lane, Rader Rd, and Riley Boyd Road

The Target Grant Areas include 11 addresses. Five additional addresses will get access to upgraded service. The list of eligible locations was compiled using data collected from broadband providers through Vermont’s Broadband Mapping Initiative. The completion deadline is June 30, 2014.

This project is complete.
