FairPoint - Bennington, Brattleboro, & Wilmington (Complete)
The Vermont Telecommunications Authority(VTA) has awarded $295,750 to FairPoint Communications to expand its DSL broadband Internet service to locations currently without access to any broadband service in Bennington, Brattleboro and Wilmington.
The VTA made the award as part of the February 1, 2013, Notice of Grant Fundingfor incentives to broadband providers for more difficult to reach locations. Funding was made possible by an appropriation of the Legislature in the FY2012-2013 Capital Budget. It was requested by Governor Peter Shumlin as part of the Connect VT initiative.
For this award Target Grant Areas include 44 addresses. The list of eligible locations was compiled using data collected from broadband providers through Vermont’s Broadband Mapping Initiative.
