The Vermont Telecommunications Authority (VTA) is seeking a Director of Financial Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the VTA’s on-going financial management and accounting activities, as well as directly performing a significant share of accounting duties as member of a total organization staff of nine. Duties will include budget preparation and presentation, financial reporting, supporting the Board of Directors on the organization’s annual audit, oversight of and participation in accounting systems, management of processes to ensure compliance with internal controls, preparation of the organization’s annual and quarterly reports, and providing assistance to other staff as required with financial analysis projects. The candidate must possess exceptional financial, audit, communication and management skills in order to successfully meet the VTA’s goals.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance (Master’s Degree or CPA desirable)
- Seven or more years of experience in progressively responsible finance positions
- Three or more years of management / supervisory experience
- Experience with government activity accounting
- Previous experience in telecommunications / broadband industries is desirable.
Critical Skills:
- Strong oral and written communications skills, including the ability to make effective public presentations
- The ability to build supportive relationships
- Ability to effectively supervise staff
- Ability to manage and monitor compliance with audit and internal control requirements
- Knowledge of QuickBooks financial software.
- Demonstrated Excel and Power Point skills
