Notification of Projects Being Undertaken by Vermont Utility Companies

April 6, 2009: Pursuant to 30 V.S.A 8093(a), The following is a notification of VELCO's Irasburg to St. Johnsbury fiber project. The Project will be located at the Irasburg substation. The Project consists of installing a 72 fiber ALL Dielectric Self Supporting (ADSS) cable on the transmission structures, which will connect these two adjacent substations. VELCO plans to commence this project in June, 2009.

Under Act 131 - 8093, Notification by Utility requires that utility companies notify the VTA of planned projects. The reason for this is that it is sometimes more efficient to allow other service providers to do work at the same time that the utility is working in an area. Please check this Service Provider section of the website regularly to keep up to date on projects that may be happing in your service areas.

Green Mountain Power Developments - 1/29/09

Green Mountain Power has received its Final Order /CPG from the Vermont Public Service Board and is making plans to relocate its Bridge St. Substation in Bellows Falls Vermont in 2009. In preparation for the relocation, GMP will be constructing its main power lines on Bridge St. in Bellows Falls. Part of the reconstruction work will include undergrounding its facilities across the canal and behind the Post Office.

There are several communication facilities in this area. GMP is interested to know if any of these communication companies are interested in sharing the cost to occupy new conduits in the GMP construction area?
